Editing Technique Definitions

Here are the definitions of the three shots I will be using in my preliminary task.

Match on action

Its an editing technique where one shot cuts to another shot showing and emphasising the action of th subject in the first shot.

Shot / reverse shot
Its an editing technique used in conversations or when characters are looking at each other or am object.
For example, it could be a shot showing what a character is looking at followed by a reverse angle shot of them looking at it.

The 180 Degree rule
Its a basic film editing guideline that states that two characters (or other elements) in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other.
