Evaluation

I feel that the strengths of our final clip are that it flows very well and all of the different shot are accurate representations . I think that it would have look better of we filmed it all the same way because in some shots it landscape and in others its portrait.

The skills I have developed though out the production of this product are filming and team work. Also I have learnt new filming techniques such as 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot. These key techniques will benefit me when doing the main task because I will know the basics so I will have something to go off.

Skills I personally think I need to develop in the future are editing as I haven't done much of it before it all new to me. I also need to develop my directing skills as on this preliminary task i wasn't able to try it out as the role was allocated to Rosey.

After playing our preliminary task product to others we were given feedback including suggestions and comments. The criticism we were given was that we needed to have filmed the clip in landscape. we also go positive feedback , this was that the continuity was good and that we included every thing that the preliminary task asked . So we met the criteria.

First Impressions of Blogger.com

I have never blogged before so it is all very new. I feel quite strange about the whole concept but I think that as we go though the course it will become more comfortable as it will be a regular thing. My first impressions of Blogger are all good so far.
I am going to be doing my Preliminary task with Rosey Smith , Olivia Moss and James Thorneycroft. I am choosing to work with them because I feel we will be able to complete the task well together. We get on well together and so I think we will be able to work at the same pace and share the work out equally. As a result we should be able to produce a good standard product.

In our preliminary task James and Liv will be acting and Editing. We chose to assign them those roles as we felt as a group that they suited it. I am going to be filming and rosey will be directing.

Editing Technique Definitions

Here are the definitions of the three shots I will be using in my preliminary task.

Match on action

Its an editing technique where one shot cuts to another shot showing and emphasising the action of th subject in the first shot.

Shot / reverse shot
Its an editing technique used in conversations or when characters are looking at each other or am object.
For example, it could be a shot showing what a character is looking at followed by a reverse angle shot of them looking at it.

The 180 Degree rule
Its a basic film editing guideline that states that two characters (or other elements) in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other.

Preliminary Exercise

I am going to be doing a continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door , crossing a room and sitting down on a chair opposite another character. I will then demonstrate match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule. I think this will help me with my main task because it will be a practice for the real thing. Also I have time to make mistakes on this preliminary task so that my main task is better.
